كوكب الزهرة كان مليئا بالمحيطات

ربما كان كوكب الزهرة يوماً شبيهاً بالأرض، وشهد نشاطات بركانية قوية، وامتلأت هضابه بالكثير من المحيطات.
هذا ما يعتقده العلماء من خلال خريطة جديدة للكوكب القريب من الأرض، والواقع فوق نصف الكرة الجنوبي ونشرت على موقع "سبايس دوت كوم".
وتحتوي الخريطة على آلاف الصور التي التقطتها مركبة "فينوس أكسبرس" التابعة لوكالة القضاء الأوروبية، وهي قد تعطي علماء الفلك فكرة عن سبب التشابه بين حجم الأرض والزهرة، على الرغم من أنهما مختلفان من حيث تطور كليهما وحركة دورانهما، إذ إن كوكب الزهرة يدور في الاتجاه المعاكس للأرض، وحرارته تصل بحسب علماء إلى 460 درجة مئوية على السطح.
واستطاعت المركبة "فينوس أكسبرس" التي دارت حول الكوكب وضع خريطة تشير إلى التكوين الكيميائي للصخور فيه.
ويعتقد العلماء أن مرتفعات وهضاب الزهرة قديمة التكوين، وكانت يوماً محاطة بالمحيطات التي ربما تبخرت في الفضاء، وبأن الكوكب شهد نشاطات بركانية كثيرة.
