ابتكار طريقة لتحويل السكر إلى بلاستيك

توصل علماء بإحدي الجامعات البريطانية إلى طريقة جديدة لتحويل سكر "البوليمر" الموجود في الأشجار سريعة النمو وفي الأعشاب إلى بلاستيك.وأشارت الدكتورة شارلوت ويليامز من المجلس البريطاني للعلوم الفيزيائية، إلى أن الأشجار والأعشاب المستخدمة في استخراج "البوليمر" ليست مصدراً للغذاء كما أنها لا تحتاج لمساحات واسعة من الأراضي لزراعتها.وأوضحت ويليامز أن صناعة البلاستيك من السكر ستصبح متاحة خلال الخمس سنوات القادمة على أقصي تقدير.يذكر أن صناعة البلاستيك من السكر ستحد من صناعة البلاستيك من المشتقات النفطية ما يخفف من تلوث البيئة، لافتة إلى أن 99 % من الصناعات البلاستيكية تعتمد على الوقود الأحفوري الملوث الأكبر للبيئة.
